You have to Walk before You can Run!!!
This is a series of weave pole exercises and also HANDLING where you can (and should) do 2-3 segments at a walk to make sure you know where, when and WHAT information to give dog. Then you can do entire sequence at speed. If you can’t give the dog the right info at a walk, how can you expect to do it at speed? For example: On black circle course…Are you telling dog to Extend out of tunnel or Turn. Where EXACTLY do you give info for weaves? Rear Crossing 7-8 means handler has to RUN to get to end of tunnel and basically guarantees extension out of tunnel.
The morale of the night: is if you’re having trouble with something, don’t be afraid to slow it down to a walk. Even if you know what you’re doing, the DOG might need it slower to learn what you’re telling him.
